Description:
Ick. Tell me, how does making a model a solid color with a white face on it justify a skin? I don't think it does. And yet, that's what this is. A model that's been blacked out and had a white face ans spider added onto it. And what's more, it's supposed to be Venom. But the thing is, he has no resemblance to Venom.
First off, the model is the Hazardtrooper. Nothing big there, except the fact that it's a huge, bulky model. Venom from spiderman wasn't blocky. He was muscular, not block-like. Second, there's the extremely simple skinning job. The texture editing must've taken about five minutes. I fail to see how this looks like venom.
The author put in custom taunts, and that's it. I love a skin with new sounds, but not when it's only two sounds. It's annoying to have new taunts but to be left with default kyle sounds. Next time, more new sounds.
First off, you should've tried a different model. Secondly, you should've taken more than five minutes reskinning this.
Team skins are included, except that they're the same as the default skin, only with red and blue as the base colors.

Description:
Well I'm a Spider-Man fan and my favorite villain is Venom. After
doing a small search on Spider-Man themed skins I found that all of the Venom
ones didn't portray him well enough, so I chose a bulky model and started working.
Now this is my first skin so don't be extremely hard.
Installation instructions: Extract the pk3 file to
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\base
or simply your base folder if you already know all that stuff.
Bugs: I know almost nothing about all the little things about making a skin so
there are no shaders, meaning that it is easily affected by lighting.
Only other bug I know of is the fact that he has two taunts, but will only often do one, which
is a bit annoying.

on how to do that, it'd be very appreciated. A tutorial for making a brand new model
would also be very, very appreciated. I may make a guy with a cape in the future, that's why.
I'm not all that happy with the face, so I may update it later. Now this is
my first skin so don't be extremely hard.
Also, I used paint (I don't have photoshop but I'll get it) and everytime I
saved and exited the program it would kinda blur the thing up, so don't expect every
little part of him to be perfect.

care less.

You took the words right out of my mouth Furryrodian.
Anyway, everything this guy did wrong is stated in his readme.
1: He used the hazzardtrooper model.
2: He didn't give it a cell shader.
3: He used paint, the most bare-bones, least reliable program in all of digital image editing instead of using a more powerful free program like GIMP.
Yeah data lord its venom from spiderman.
But wow. I don't think i've ever seen a model butchored this much.
Spiders poorly drawn, he used a paint bucket to color it... ugh. Horray for first skins.

I know it aint great, but first skins should be treated better, much better. At least more respectfully, considering he stated the faults u posted in his readme. (This is something u´ve done several times...)
I've seen first skins with more effort put in than this. There's no reason to coddle someone and tell them they're wonderful just because it's the first time they've been out. I don't believe in lying to people.
Seriously. How many times has it been said "Don't submit your first skin?" Especially when, in the read-me, it says you're not happy with it. People who submit stuff they know isn't their best work don't get sympathy from the reviewers, whether it's their first skin or their 80th.
Being a first-timer doesn't make you less intelligent than an experienced skinner - you should still be able to tell the difference between something you should submit and something you should work a little harder on before putting it out for the community to rip apart. This is nothing more than an MS paint skin - these shouldn't even be submitted in the first place when there's free, decent software out there.
And I thought you publish all skins regardless of if they are crap or great, and you are saying don't even submit these skins?

JK3Files publishes all skins but its up to the author to decide whether its good enough or not.
If u come here frequently, and u know what kind of reactions u get to bad files, u should know that u will get the same reactions when u publish something crappy.
this skin isnt good but if the auhor practices some more and learns photoshop (anything but paint actually) he can make better works, till that time, consider ur skins practice, and u shouldnt release practice work.

lol that skin is a piece of crap to be honest ven mine is better and i'm 13 and i think the author should've used a model like rax jorris lol fat but resembles venom more thana hazardtrooper

It's called "advice." I'd prefer to see authors not have their work called "oooogly" and "crap" as this author's work has so been referred to as. Not submitting your very first works is a good way to avoid being flamed in such a manner.
Okay, after seeing the rest of what's been said, I am going to be very careful in choosing my words.
#5, I agree that first skins typically shouldn't be stamped as "unaccepable" most of the time, but when something like this comes along its not a good idea to just say "good job" and giv'em a pat on the back with some advice. That will make them think that they did a good job for a 1st skin, and in this case, not to be rude, Myke really didn't. There really is nothing good to be said sbout the skin, poor choise of model, basic program, and what really seems like a haphazed job skinning even with the most basic program ever. I wouldn't say to improve upon this, I would say start over from scratch. And don't put the word "ultimate" in the name, no matter what. Mods with words like that typically are anything but "ultimate" and make the author seem pompous.
I myself am working on a modifyed version of a model with a new skin, and I am being very careful and taking my time. This person just used bucket and labeled it "Ultimate", really bad idea even for a 1st timer.

uuh..dude i think he didnt mean the ultimate in that maner correct me if im rong but didnt he want to make venom from the game ultimate spiderman....then he isnt half that rong about the flat paint colour thats how ultimate spider man looks...

I'm glad that at least one person read my readme.
To everyone, I could not find on this site or where ever else I looked any tutorial on doing the things that by how you people write, easy, such as shading and all that crap. So instead of running straight to the comment box and holding down the O button, how about you write a tutorial on how to do it, or do you just suck far to much? I hope that's a little wake up call for you lazy *****s that complain at a first skin, but aren't willing to actually help.
By the way, RockStar and all it's games kiss my **** and call it Ice Cream, VIVA LA SPIDER-MAN!

There are plenty of tutorials on this site, if one wanted to find them. There's a link to the JK3 Modding and Editing forum on the sidebar. In there you'll find the Master Sticky, which is crammed full of tutorials and programs for modding. There's also a skinning tutorial on the sidebar underneath the "Jedi Knight 2" category, next to the line "Please enjoy..." in your readme.
We're more than happy to help people - if they at least make an effort to help themselves first.
