Now these are the kinds of maps I like -- out doors, trees, ruins, fire... Maybe I just play too many medieval RPG's. In any case, this map seems to be a valley, as the title suggests, and it has some ruins and what look like tombs. It also makes use of some nice Quake 3 custom map objects from WeMakeMaps.com so you might want to check that out if you like what you see in this map.

My biggest complaint with this map, to get it out of the way early, is the FPS. I typically get decent FPS, and I can deal with anything over 15, but I was getting a solid 8 frames per second on this map which irked me ever so slightly. It's a shame, because it's a very nice map and I'd hate to see something like that kill it. So commentors if you could please check on the FPS yourselves and report back here with your findings to confirm/deny my choppiness.

Beyond that though I had very few complaints. It's a pretty large area, and while most of it is open there's still enough in it to make it not feel empty. The trees used really add a dimension to the area, giving it a more realistic feel, and I do like the scattered ruins/tombs, several of which have interactive properties (figure it out yourself). And it looks like there's an altar in one part of the map, so if you're playing and realized you haven't yet made your human sacrifice to whatever pagan gods you worship you're all set! Just make sure you sacrifice the player with the lowest score. smile

There is some interactivity and NPCs that you can spawn and duel. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: To install this map, unzip the file and place the pk3 file in your base folder. To uninstall, simply remove the pk3 from your base folder. COMMENTS: This is my first publically released map.
