Raxus Duel - File Description

Description:
This is a small duel map set on the planet Raxus Prime. It's very small, so it's really only good for duels even if you wanted to use it for some other purpose. The texturing is quite decent, aside from one seemingly missing texture, and the lighting is also fairly decent and consistent with the skybox. For a small saber duel, it should fit its purpose. The lack of music or ambient sounds, however, is quite a bummer. Being set on a raised platform, I would have expected the typical wind ambient sounds. None exist, nor any background music at all, both of which would have really enhanced the mood of the map.

On to the bugs. There are a few. As I already mentioned, there seems to be one missing texture. Also the author claims there are some sparklies, but I honestly couldn't find them, so if they're there, they're quite well hidden. The skybox, though, bothers me. It's nice and all... until you look at the bottom of it. There's supposed to be a fog layer, which I imagine was supposed to hide this ugly bottom, but it doesn't seem to work. Personally I would've used a closer texture for the skybox bottom, to cover this, but... eh. I suppose when the fog's working, it'll look a lot better.

Overall a decent duel map. Pick it up if you like close-quarters duels with a bit of peril.

Hm, I think that missing texture's from the JA bonus maps. I probably will release a v2 with sounds + improved skybox when I release the full map for MB2 (and perhaps also a FFA version along with this duel).

I thought Raxus Prime was the iceworld where the Force Harvester/Dark Reaper was?

That's quite possible. I don't keep the bonus pack in my base folder. If that's the case, it'll be a good thing to mention next time. Or alternatively you can include the texture, just in case. wink

Raxus Prime isn't an iceworld - Raxus II is, though.
