Description:
I would like to start this review out on a good note. Pande, this warrior salutes ye. Ye have gone and proven a claim of mine, namely that the first of anything doesn't have to suck. Lads, lasses, lords and ladies, I present to ye all Pande's first map. Tis a duel arena, based on the Massassi theme. And ruins. Tis an octagonal platform, suspended above a small patch of grass, surrounded by walls (occasionally adorned with doorways) and a flight of stairs that leads to another (as of yet out of order) door. Alas, there is a downfall, though a minor one. Tis far too small for the slaughter that is an FFA. Pande doth claim that tis a "teaser" of a map to come, a small part of that grander complex. I strongly suggest that you try it out.

	Readme File: _____/----- Massassi Ruins Duel ----____ ----- Arena - by Pande ----/ Author: Pande Email: the_ferg_dude@hotmail.com Map Number: 1 New Textures: Attempted, but No. New Sounds: No Bot Routing: Yes Game Types Supported: FFA, DUEL, POWERDUEL Bugs: Only one, and very minor: One of the beams (45 degree one) above the steps has some sparkly issues. Can't see why, and it only seems to happen on lower quality settings; problem dissapears on top performance settings. But since most people run on lower quality for FPS reason, I consider this a bug. +----------------------------------------+ Size: Small Description: A small duel platform on pillars that leave it floating about player hight above the ground. It is enclosed, and the only sky visable is the top. It is not sky lighted, but an entitity light was placed in the sky and was surprisingly effective. The map is very open, going a long with the theme that in the time this sort of place would be built they did not have lights. Notes: This is a 'teaser' (if you wish to call it that) of a much larger map. (hence the installation of the stairs going up to non-working door) The design of the larger map will include the same sort fo theme, broken and old. It is a first map, so don't be too hard, but I am mainly releasing this before the rest of the map to get feedback on my design and whatnot, so feel free to aim some criticism at me. :) +----------------------------------------+ Credit: Map-Craft for its great help in the forums. They have a wonderful range of knowledgable frequenters that helped me. Also, I would like to dedicate this first map to Peace Keepers Clan (www.peacekeepersclan.net) and especially PeaceSkira, for his/her help in feedback and support. thanks all. um if jose reads this and can edit things.. there are no new textures. I attempted to place some in, but first I got some shader errors and then I had some problems with alignment and decided I would leave that for the FFA version.

also, the map was only put as FFA for convenience of people wanting to look through it. I considered that it would be a bonus to be able to duel people and also run around on your own and look through it. sorry for the muddle. smile

And in the FFA (about 10% completed already) the stairs are reversed to go the other direction, there are now two duel rooms (hopefully four soon, but each one has to be ruined in different places, lol) and also will include your usual RP/Clan map stuff, such as a locked room for admin meetings and your usual courtyard and stuff. Maybe a garden, and if I can get my three-point-clipping done nicely, an outdoor area. (rock walls) I will also try to get my own skybox, I am currently using the Desert one (the one seen in the place where you rescue the droid in single player, near the beginning). I only used that one because its bright and has a sun in it. (although I still had to use an entity sun to light it, as it did not seem to shed any light. ambient in the map is at 45-50 or somin)

Lastly, I hope to get some custom textures and if possible some music, or at least change it. The beginning of the current music is good, but then it goes all tuba and it sounds like an orchestra tuning up. big grin
