Guan's Repeater Effects - File Description  

Who here doesn't like the repeater? It has a fast rate of fire, it has splash damage... c'mon, it's the perfect weapon! What would you say if someone claimed to have made it cooler? Okay, the author never claimed that he made it cooler (very smart, by the way) but I think it's cooler.

They are some simple changes, in some ways: each shot now has a trail, as does the secondary fire. The effects look simple, but are likely far from it to produce. The end result: niftiness. Because this mod edits some default shader files without changing the names, there could potentially be some shader errors. In the future any mod that 'edits' shaders should simply put the edited shader content in a new, stand-alone shader, which should overwrite anything in any of the default shaders.

Installation: Unzip and place the Guan_repeffectsmod.pk3 file into your base directory

Description: This mod will basicly change the effects that are shown on the repeater, incluiding sound (repeater skin shown in the screenshots
isn't incluided in this mod).

Bugs/problems: None yet, please let me know if you find anything.

Comments: this has only been tested using Jedi Outcast but it is posible to work in Jedi Academy as well.

Hmm.... Nice!
Um... will it effect the mod I have for that gun? I have the MA5B that overwrites it... and man is that gun BAD! I love the way the 2ndary fire was changed to fire grenades...

So, will it hamper anything like that?
Might get this file if I ever delete the ol MA5B... not a bad file tho!

To Inyri: First of thanks for posting it so soon, and yes I didn't realize the shader thing..... It didn't happen in Medal of Honor, I haven't seen any harsh mistakes for now, not denying there might be some, please if anyone finds a mistake let me know.

To # 1: I'm not quite sure, depends on the scripting , but if it shows the same effects of the repeater , maybe there shouldn't be any problems in showing the new ones.

To # 2: Sorry mate, I'll have to dissapoint you, my JK3 second CD is lying broken in the thrash can ..... and it wasn't my fault Cry .

To anyone: Feel free to convert or import this mod into JK3 at anytime and thanks for your Feedback.

I really like the primary fire. However I think the secondary fire is slightly overwhelming as it obscures what you are firing at. Other than that good job big grin

FYI, when I tested this mod I tested it in JK3, because I was too lazy to find my JK2 discs. It works absolutely fine in JK3 and can probably be considered interchangeable. The only issues you'll have is shader errors when the shaders are different from JK2 to JK3.

GuanShire, I don't know what you are talking about with effects...but, if you are using NotePad or WordPad or any kind of typing program, STOP. It is probably THE MOST inconvenient way to make good effects, and, while I'm surprised you made something this good with that strategy, I will say that scripting effects from scratch is like drawing a picture with your eyes closed and back turned.

I highly recommend the program EffectsEd, if you are to continue your career in effects. I can give you a link, if you wish.

I see then, well maybe I release a second one with new shaders and some corrections acording to what you guys are and have posted above, and yes....I use notepad Resistance is Futile! but thanks for the advise, I'll look into EffectsEd to make more of this kind of mods if you guys liked it.....Vacations can turn out boring sometimes...

Hm, very innovative. I find the Imperial Repeater to be rather clumsy and inaccurate, though, so it is not particularly within my range of personal preference. Pimp!

It might help a bit if all the weapon's projectiles actually moved at a reasonable rate. stick out tongue Currently they just sort of float through the air.

Yes...Guan, I also think you should get into GIMP, if you haven't already. It's a very handy program that is an almost equal with Photoshop...with the exception that GIMP is ENTIRELY FREE. I have it myself and I have not yet had to pay a single cent. Now, I'm not gonna post the link, because that would be advertising (wink, wink, Kouen! smile), but...just google "Download GIMP" and see what turns up. The program should help you create some new GFX...which is an area that an effects mod should always implement.

Also...when you use EffectsEd, try and make sure, if possible, not to just rename base JKA effects so that they replace certain repeater effects; also try to avoid just changing a color or two to make an effect *seem* new. I literally make my effects all entirely out of scratch. Just...put plenty of time and effort into any new release you may come up with, and it will be even better than this one!

I'm using PSP 9.1 got it free from a friend long, long time ago, I've heard about GIMP and sounds great, never tried it tho, I could make a new muzzle flash but I was a bit lazy, so just colored it....I'll release a second version of this and will possibly be much better thanks to the feedback you are giving me.

It might take a bit tho since now I am working on a skin, personally think it is lovely, but you guys will see it for yourselves, thanks again for your feedback.Roll Eyes (sarcastic)

lol in one of the screenies it looked like u and whatever those people were *bots or humans) were firing on a small group of rebel scum with those weps and they kinda looked like missles and a mortar rocket
