Deep in the Forest - File Description  


Description:
This map, or map pair as I should say (day and night versions), features a forest-themed map. It has a lot of tree models, so beware if you have a less powerful rig. The map itself seems designed primarily for gun play, sporting several gun pickups, plenty of health pickups, and a few extra things here and there. They can be found within the few huts found within the map, seemingly abandoned (and rather poorly furnished, if I do say so myself).

The abundance of trees really give it an interesting atmosphere, though I must admit the textures on the huts really contrast poorly against the stock textures. Especially the hay-ish roof texture. It's far too large, and doesn't really fit the map at all. Where are you going to get hay in a jungle/forest anyway? I also thought the lighting could've been a little more drastic. With all the foliage, there should have been some more shadowing on the ground. I also feel the need to say that's a really young tree stump to be so large... but laying science aside... stick out tongue

The one "secret" in this map, as far as I can tell, isn't really a secret at all, in the conventional sense. Even so, I didn't include screenshots of it, to appease the manic secret-searching sect. I'll tell you, though, that if you can't find it, you may want to put your glasses on. When I can find secrets, you know they're too obvious!

DESCRIPTION**: This is a map that take place in the forest.
It has tree huts and a little village.
There is a secret area, You will have to find on your own.

Kinda reminds me of an older map called... blast.. it's filename was Twoods. I don't remember the name in the .arena file. I like forest maps, so I'll give this one a shot.

I think a wood texture for the roof texture would be more suitable.
Apart from that, great map! Fun to play in with lots of players [or hunt someone out in a 2 player match].
7/10 [8/10 with a fixed roof texture wink]

i live in a forest so this map is kinda wasted on me =p

but all together does look very nice and i will be sure to download

That would be Toljin Backwoods. And yeah, it's a very good map, also with day and night versions.

This map is good. It's pretty spread out, but is wide open; good for firefights...this is great whenever I play ForceMod. And the atmosphere is nice though I agree with Inyri that it needs some more shadowing.

2 other gripes:

- You can walk into some trees.
- I found the 'secret', which is hard to see playing the nighttime version, because of a lighting problem: the 'secret' area's lighting was spilling onto some parts of the map.

Other than that, good work! 8/10 big grin

Where are you going to get hay in a jungle/forest anyway?

Easy, depending on what type of hay, loosen often grows in grasslands and ironically forest floor, easy made hay. And its the best type of hay.
