[CONTEST] Yuuzhan Vong Death Duel Arena - File Description  


Description:
Jan-Feb 2007 Contest Finalist - Advanced Skill Level

Description: Be warned, this map is very purple! The map is based on the idea of a Vong Duel arena type area on one of the Vong's ancient home planets in their own galaxy. Thus its alot weirder and more 'alien' than what you might be used to seeing from Star Wars.

Pros:
  • Excellent mood lighting.
  • Good use of terrain.
  • Music sets good atmosphere.
  • Skybox fits the map perfectly.

Cons
  • Slightly monochromatic.
  • Map feels too open and empty.

Note: This map has been given a generalized review to avoid any biasing of the voters. All maps, both finalists and non-finalists from all three skill levels will be properly re-reviewed after the contest.

Welcome to one of the Yuuzhan Vong's Death Duel arenas...if you find yourself here, likely you have done
something to insult one of your superiors, or perhaps you are a captured prisoner. Whatever the reason, only one
person will get out alive...

So, take your amphistaff and your vonduun crab armour, and let the duel commence!

Well this is my entry for the JKFiles.com Duel map contest. As the title suggests its based on the concept of
a Yuuzhan Vong Duel Arena type thing, since the Vong are all into the whole honour thing!

If you are reading, or planning on reading the New Jedi Order novels, and dont want to have any of the plot spoiled
for you, then i would advise you be very careful if you want to read the following sites!

Be warned, this map is very purple! Perhaps the kinda thing that you will either love or hate, since the Vong and
the New Jedi Order series of novels also seems to divide fans on whether they love it or hate it.
The map is based on the idea of a Vong Duel arena type area on one of the Vong's ancient home planets in their own
galaxy. Thus its alot weirder and more 'alien' than what you might be used to seeing from Star Wars!

If you want more things 'Vong' for Jedi Academy, there was an excellent skin made by Keto for JK2, although it
should work in JKA as well i think.

Also there was a great mod made for JKA called Force Mod 3 - Return Of The Sith, this includes many new features,
and many skins/models including not only Keto's Yuuzhan Vong model, but also the Yuuzhan Vong Amphistaff weapon.

-Well, Lucasarts/Raven of course for making the game, and the base textures which i heavily modified to use in this map.

- My beta testers; Mace, Szico, ZidZabre, Obiwan Kenody, D-Man, Kessno and Immenor. Although i think there might have been more,
i cant remember, sorry if i missed anyone!

- Szico and Mace for taking screenshots for me (i used one of Szico's for the levelshot) since my computer cannot
currently do dynamic glow.

- Whoever it was who made GTK Radiant!

- Paintshop Pro 9 which i used to make/modify the textures.

- John Williams who composed the music for War of the Worlds, which is featured in this map.

- And of course...George Lucas for creating Star Wars!
