Battlestar Galactica Vehicle Pack - File Description

Hoo boy, it has been a century and a half since I've seen a good vehicle mod, and THIS will definitely do...

So, Battlestar Galactica, yet another one of those sci-fi series I never really watched. This pack, however, brings intrigue to me. Pra Viilon, a long time clan leader, has taken advantage of a modeller name Coxxon's collection of Battlestar Galactica vehicle models that were "free game to the public," and brought them to JK3 for us.

Before I begin, I must say that all of these models are beautifully done, so hats off to Coxxon for his magnificent work there. Now, all of these vehicles share between 3 vehicle weapons, so fortunately for you all, there won't be a huge overload of vehicle weapons(since there is indeed a limit.) The weapons are as follows:

Viper Gun: Though the weapon obviously is designated for the Viper, this weapon is carried by every ship in the pack. The effect is actually a very amusing one: It's the heavy repeater effects, both in sound and visual effects. Mind you, this means by default you'd be firing beans, but imagine if you were to, say, download the DC-15A Rifle, then you could be firing some kinky blue lasers, which is most potent. However, I found that it was just fine without the modification.

Nuke: Effectively what appears to be a nuclear missle, this weapon uses a modified torpedo effect with an extra kick. The damage is naturally quite potent, and the effect on your screen is quite dramatic...and disorienting.

Bomb: This weapon seems to be unique in that it is the only weapon that is meant to be fired down at the ground, and that it seems to be only in the possession of one ship. Essentially, it's what one would think it is, a bomb to drop onto ground forces.

Now, with the weapons taken into account, let's see what we've got:

- Viper MK. I: AKA, the original Viper from the classic series. This one is a vehicle that the community has seen before, created by Mars Marshall. This vessel is the least armed of the bunch, sporting only two Viper Guns, and it looks a bit clunky compared to its newer brethren, but it's still a sturdy model, and has the ability to roll left and right, a feat not every JK3 vehicle possesses.

Armament: 2x Viper Gun

- Viper MK. II: A much more cleaner model than its predecessor, marked by its sharper paint job and slimmer, more compact tri-thruster design and the additional armament. Just conserve your shots, as you only get two missles.

Armament: 2x Viper Gun, 2x Nuclear Missles

- Viper MK. VII: Wow O_o...what a farcry from the other Vipers. This thing looks closer to a real life jet than it does a sci-fi vessel. Still has the tri-barrel jets, but a much slimmer, grayer design, but not at the expense of flare, weaponry, or the rolling capability its predecessors had.

Armament: 3x Viper Gun, 2x Nuclear Missles

Welp, that covers the Vipers. Now, we move onto the Raiders, a set of vessels in the dominion of the Cylons, whom I remember as being quite clunky and robotic. Very amusing bunch, but the Raiders are still quite awesome:

- Old Raider: This is the classic Raider from the old series, from what I understand. It appears to be the most unique of the bunch in its saucer-like shape, and its ability to hurl bombs. Despite its bulky size, the old raider remains a very nimble unit, and can roll away as well.

Armament: 2x Viper Gun, 20x bombs

- New Raider: Now THIS Raider received a MASSIVE imaginative overhaul. No longer the clunky saucer it once was, this new raider has a sleek new design with a monochrome silver paintjob, sleek curved wings outfitted with Viper Guns, and a cockpit whose design looks to be based off the Cylon's helmets. Very snazzeh indeed =_= and it rolls.

Armament: 2x Viper Gun, 2x Nuclear Missles

- Heavy Raider: Wow, this thing is a monster O_o; basically, the cylon cockpit has been grafted onto a large peculiar hull. With it, a massive upgrade in firepower has been bestowed. Though it can't roll, it can hover in mid-air, unleashing its barrage of lasers upon both aerial and ground targets with equal prowess. Not a ship whose attention you want to attract.

Armament: 6x Viper Gun, 4x Nuclear Missles

That covers the Raiders, and now, we cover my favorite of the vehicles, the Raptor. Now I have NO idea what the Raptor is associated with, but it's basically the answer to the Heavy Raider. There are only two versions, an unarmed and an armed. Now the unarmed is a bit of a misgnomer, as it does have a single Viper Gun for defense, but the armed version has a massive edge. Both can hover, and both are very awesome looking frigates.

Armament(Unarmed): 1x Viper Gun (Armed) 2x Viper Gun, 28x Nuclear missles

So, about the map...WAIT, WHAT?!? A MAP?! You bet your ass. Anyone who remembers Flight School Final will be glad to know that Pra converted the map to use the Battlestar Galactica Vehicles included in this pack. However, you require the original map pack to play it, though the vehicles included with it are not compulsory, so fear.

There y'have it, kiddies. One massive vehicle pack that earns my most favorable gaze, which I guess in this case would be "=_,=" ....

Author :Pra Viilon

Model Authors :Mars Marshall "NeoMarz1", COXXON, Karl Knight
Coding and Compiling :Pra Viilon

File Name :z_BSG_vehicles.pk3

This pack contains several vehicles from Battlestar Galactica show. The original series Viper model (referred as mark I in reimagined series) was created by Mars Marshall and was already at filefront, but it lacked appropriate weapon effects and had buggy shader.
Mark II and mark VII Vipers, raptors and cylon raiders from reimagined series were created by Coxxon and converted to JKA format by me.

For those who hate spawning in console and want a map with new vehicles, i added one. I edited Kotor flight school final map (FSF), added TFFA and CTF game modes support
and added the new BSG vehicles.
YOU HAVE TO get original FSF map for this edited version to work. They both will be playable separately:
FSF.bsp - original map
FSF_BSG.bsp - edited map
If you do not want tons of vehicles that come with original FSF map, just install FSF.pk3 from the map archive and install this BSG pack.

******************************VEHICLE SPAWN NAMES***************************************

******************************HOW TO SPAWN NPC?***************************************

In order to spawn the craft you need to acivate cheats, heres how you do it.
Load a level, I suggest the "Trip" levels, the once your in the game make sure you move your character to an area big enough to spawn the craft (big and somewhat flat)
hit "shift and tild (~)" to activate the console. Next type "devmapall"...hit enter (cheats are now on)...next type "npc spawn vehicle <vehicle's name>"
close the console by hitting the tild (~) again. Now this is the most important part, move back to allow the ship to spawn, it may need alot of space.
Once the ship spawns you simply move up and hit your "USE" key (usually return).
Note: vehicle weapons do not work in single player

If you use JAplus you need to log into admin mode and you do not need cheat mode to spawn npcs or vehicles.
In base jka to activate cheats, you do thing a little different: activate the console by hitting shift+tild(~).
Next type /devmap "mapname". Example: /devmap kotor_flight_school. The map will load with cheats activated.
Now join the game and find a large area to spawn the viper. Open the console again and type /npc spawn vehicle "vehicle name".

*********************************Trouble shoot************************************************
1) Vehicle wont spawn- make sure you have enough space to spawn, make sure you have cheats activated, make sure you use the proper npc name.
2) Vehicle wont move- You may have spawned the vehicle too close to a wall or rock. This will ancor the vehicle so that it wont move.
3) i cant get in vehicle- come as close to the vehicle as you can, aim at it, press crouch and then hit your "USE" key (usually return).

You can use these vehicles in a mod or a map, provided that you credit the authors properly and include this readme as well.
You can distribute this pack unchanged and unaltered on other sites.
You cannot create new versions or editions of this pack without permission from me.

Averus, you obviously haven't seen the new series or you'd have recognized more of these.

BSG is short for BattleStar Galactica, the name of the series.

I have been waiting forever for someone to make some good JK3 BSG models based on the old, and mostly the NEW series and these do not dissapoint! Now all we need is some BSG uniforms, and a Galactica Map! Anyway, these are fantastic good work!.
