This hilt has been created for the November-December 2006 JKFiles Hilt Contest.

Here we have a single saber, which actually turned out to be 2 sabers in one... the single itself, and an optional staff saber configuration. Sporting a simple. yet well planned out design, with just a bit of a twist to make it a bit more unique in the end.

Avoiding any truly unnecessary modeled on detail, the saber handle itself makes use of the mesh in it's most optimal form. Keeping the circumference down to 8 sides, proving that you don't need to fill your mesh with unneeded polys to achieve a desired look.

The simplicity of the mesh is helped along by a set of animated textures in the form of pulsating red and blue lights that run along the full length of the handle.

The effects, while appearing very well done in close up, are barely visible at most other times. The red more difficult to spot than the blue.

But not stopping there Inyri has also updated the saber hum, with an additional electric crackling sound which accompanies the pulsating lights. This gives the saber a different feel while holding it in game.

A very well made saber, that is only hurt by the size of the model making it difficult to get the full effect in game. But it looks great up close, and with the new sounds, makes it a joy to play with.

	Readme File: ********************************* Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy ********************************* TITLE: Purgatory AUTHOR: Inyri Forge E-MAIL: inyriforge@gmail.com WEBSITE: http://www.filefreak.net FILENAME: purgatory_if.pk3 FILESIZE: 1.36 mb BUILD TIME: 4 Weeks -------------- CREDITS -------------- LucasArts, naturally, and all the folks at JKFiles. ---------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ---------------------------------------------- Put purgatory_if.pk3 in your gamedata/base directory within your Jedi Academy directory. ---------------------- DESCRIPTION ---------------------- This hilt has cortosis ore blades in mind, to combat the deadly effects the ore has on lightsaber blades, but is ideal for any Jedi or Sith favoring close-quarters combat in addition to lightsaber combat. In a pinch, the blade can be deactivated and the hilt can double as a melee weapon. As a result, however, the hilt requires a special protective holster. The hilt itself has four long, thing blades protecting the central lightsaber blade. The blades themselves are made of cortosis alloy, protecting them from other lightsabers, but as a result they are very susceptible to damage from other melee weapons. They are used as a last resort rather than a main attack. The hilt features several aesthetic additions. These include pulsating red and blue strips down the four grips, and the bottom pommel area, as well as an electric current running down the inner portion of the hilt. Both of these make full use of dynamic glow, so you may not get the full effect if you have dynamic glow turned off, or can not use dynamic glow. This hilt also features a custom hum sound, which is a mix of two baseJKA sounds.
